What’s in Jennifer’s Bathroom

Hello, Nerdship. I come to you today with yet another confession: I like expensive beauty products.   I know, I know. Some of you will scoff, roll your eyes and click by the girly stuff. Oh well. 😀

I make the pretty for a living and I have tried a million things, so here’s what makes the cut lately.

(Cast of characters, back row l-r: KMS Hairplay makeover spray, Pureology Hydrate shampoo, Bath and Body Works Summer Vanillas in Coconut, Whish shaving cream in lemongrass, Philosophy Purity Made Simple face cleanser, Nivea creme. Front row l-r: Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-wheat leave in conditioner, Pacifica Perfume in Brazilian Mango Grapefruit, Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre (it’s face lotion),  Lush lip balm in Honey Trap.)

Hair stuff:

KMS Hairplay makeover spray is basically a dry shampoo. I am a lazy ol’ Hutt some days, and that means that I bust out the dry shampoo when I’m looking a little oily. If I’m a total greaseball, I have to shampoo. If it’s just 1 day overdue, this is fine. I spray it on my hairline and part areas, then I let it sit for a few minutes and brush it out.

-Pureology Hydrate shampoo is pretty self-explanatory. Shampoo. 😀 I like this one because it’s very concentrated (I end up using a tiny dab on my short locks) and it is okay to use on my very color treated hair. It smells a little like the health food store, but that is just fine by me.

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat leave-in conditioner is a spray on, leave-in conditioner. It keeps my hair manageable and tangle-free, it smells nice, and it helps speed up my blowdrying time a little. I like a leave-in better sometimes because my hair is a little fine and it won’t make my hair limp like the regular wash-out kind can.

Face stuff:

Philosophy Purity Made Simple face cleanser is gentle on my weirdly between puberty and adulthood face; it washes off all the oily grossness and leaves me looking brighter. My sweetie likes it too. One small bottle will last us over 3 months.

-Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre is a face lotion. I got it as a sample in my monthly Birchbox (Disclaimer: that’s my referral link) a few months ago and I totally love it. I have gotten drier and drier in the face department as time has marched on, but my recurring pimples made it a total crapshoot to use a face lotion. Voila, this one works great. My face is softer than a baby’s butt and the pimples seem to have diminished greatly.

Other stuff:

Bath and Body Works shower gel is a bit of a guilty pleasure, I admit. It can be purchased for very cheap during a megasale and it does nothing special for my body, plus the pungent scent doesn’t last. Alas. lol 😀

Whish shaving cream is another Birchbox find. The light lemongrass smell reminds me of Fruity Pebbles, and I like that it’s not a foam. (For a long time, I had an issue with dry, flaky pits. I ended up changing deodorants, went to a non-foaming shaving cream and bought the razors without the goo strips.)

Lush lip balm smells so dang good and it makes my lips feel like a queen. I won a whole bunch of Lush last summer and it made me so happy to try  new stuff.

Nivea Creme has been a moisturizing staple for me since high school. I have had the driest hands every winter, and this helps soften and smooth them without setting my cracked skin on fire.

Pacifica Perfume is fun. It’s light, fruity and flirty. The different smells can be layered to make a one-of a kind combo. I like layering the coconut and blood orange with the Brazilian Mango Grapefruit.

So, Nerdship, what do you use to make the pretty? I’m dying to know. Snap a pic and post it on Instagram or Facebook! 🙂
