MtDewAppleDumplings_NerdsAndNomsense-FEATURED

Howdy, Nerdship! Do you ever get those weird recipes in your FB newsfeed (you know, the ones with wacky ingredients and unorthodox techniques)? I am forever saving things and waiting for the perfect occasion to test them out on unsuspecting friends and family. This time, I found myself with an abundance of Granny Smith apples and a real need for something delicious. My co-workers pointed me toward this recipe, so I figured it would be worth a go.

Cast of characters: cinnamon, Mt. Dew, crescent rolls, vanilla, apples, butter. In background (mushroom canister): sugar.

Melt your butter in a saucepan.

Add your sugar and barely stir (you want it to stay a little sludgy, according to folklore).

Add the vanilla extract, stir, then pour over the apple crescents.

Hooo boy.

Smells illegal in 27 galaxies.

TASTES EVEN BETTER.

NOT EVEN SORRY.

(did you know Breyer’s makes a lactose-free version of its delightful vanilla bean ice cream? Well, now you do.)

I split this into 2 8×8 pans, for ease of sharing. The original instructions called for everyone to go into a 9×13.
