You know the type. We’ve all seen her before. Slim figure, little black dress, nice heels. Just another pretty face. Most folks would move on without a second glance. Well, ok. They’d probably glance twice. Three times at most. No staring though. That’s creepy. Anyway, I digress. The point is, she’s just another pretty face, right? Nothing to worry about. Which is exactly what she wants you to think.
Underneath that pretty exterior, she’s got the reflexes of a jungle cat, coupled with decades of training designed to make her into the most dangerous woman you’ll ever meet. Weapons? Oh yeah. She’s got those in spades. Come to think of it, she may have actually used a spade as a weapon once, but that’s not important now. Intelligence? Genius level IQ, with near super-human situational awareness. Go ahead. Dismiss her as just another pretty, vapid red-head. You do so at your own peril.
So what drink would do her justice? It needs to look pretty. Girly, if you will. But it can’t be your sister’s appletini, either. This needs to pack a punch. So let’s see who’s in the lineup.
Crown Royal Black, Kraken Black Spiced Rum, ginger ale, and grenadine.
Fill a shaker with ice, then add 1.5 oz of Crown Black and 1.5 oz of Kraken. Toss in 1 tsp of grenadine to give it a hint of red, and then shake it til the outside is frosted. Pour 2 oz. of ginger ale into a martini glass, then pour your alcohol in using a strainer. You could probably garnish with an orange or lemon twist, or a cherry, but I think this one stands best on its own.
There you have it. The Black Widow. Like it’s namesake, it looks frilly, but it hits like a truck. Be careful with this one folks. Otherwise, your liver might need someone to avenge it.
