Agent Coulson – Alcoholic Avengers Series

This man is awesome and was the glue binding all of the Marvel films together up until Avengers. Now he’s risen from the grave and is going to be leading his own television show based on the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (which airs on Tuesday, September 24th). Let’s just say I’m really excited about seeing PHIL again. Phil Coulson. The Phil Coulson. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson.

the-avengers-agent-coulson__indexNot-so-random note {and spoilers}: When Loki kills Coulson during Avengers I literally yelled out “OH NO! PHIL!!!” in the theater. It was embarrassing and I have no clue as to while I just blurted that out. Oh yes I do. I didn’t want him to die. He couldn’t die. He was the glue of the group. After that, my lovely husband has never let it down and if there’s some sort of death or heavy emotional thing in a movie he’ll undoubtedly and unexpectedly yell “PHIL!!!”

For this special cocktail I wanted to play on the fact that Agent Coulson doesn’t look like a guy you’d think would beat you up, but he’s secretly a super-ninja. Just watch the little short at the end of THOR. This is a relatively clear cocktail. One where just looking at it you wouldn’t seem to have any taste but once you take a sip, you’re hooked.

The cast for this cocktail follows as thus:

AgentCoulsonDrink_AAS_Nerdsandnomsense-1Equal parts of : Frangelico, Iced cake vodka, regular vodka, vanilla vodka, and silver rum. You will also need a lemon and some sugar

Shake all your liquids in the shaker, rim your glass with sugar (lemon juice is the binder to the glass), pour and NOM! If you’ve ever had a Chocolate Cake shot, this could be it’s big brother. The drink tastes like you just bit into a piece of moist and delicious chocolate cake. It’s a sweet drink that will put you on your backside after a few of these. (See… even Phil had an accident after drinking a few of these… /kidding)

To serve, just choose your favorite glass – don’t add ice since it will dilute the flavor and you won’t get the same effect on your tastebuds. You can make this drink a few hours in advance and just store (in a pitcher/shaker) to get it extra cold.

HA! It looks like an eyeball. Also, I need more martini glasses. We only have one. It’s sad, I know.
