Holy frizzle-bits Batman! Has it really been three whole months since our official launching of Nerds and Nomsense? Answer: Heck yes it has! Since launching back in August we’ve posted 112 blog articles ranging from recipes to video game reviews and from travel tips to lifestyle lessons. We’ve connected with so many of you via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Pinterest – it’s insane (IN A FANTASTIC WAY!). We’ve had almost 30k views and are blown away by the amount of love we’ve received.
Back when we all started to talk about forming a community-type blog, we never could have dreamed how fast it would have taken off. Several of our authors have dipped their feet into blogging in the past but none really took off, at least not like Nerds and Nomsense has and all we can say is THANK YOU! We are so humbled by the support and love all you guys have given us and our hope is to continue to make the internet a more awesome place. Our goal is to continue to give you (our readers) schuper schweet posts about life, the universe, and everything.
We want to know what you guys would like to see more of on the blog. What interests you? Have you read a post or two on here and wanted to see more of that particular subject? What kind of DIYs would you like to see more of? Recipes, video-game reviews, nerd culture, etc.
Feel free to comment and share your thoughts on our posts. We LOVE to hear from you, Nerdship!
Check out all the awesome stuff going on this month!
November is an extremely exciting month. Everyone is ramping up for the holidays, it’s socially acceptable to bake copious amounts of delicious baked goods, and interweb-wide events like NaNoWriMo and No Shave November / Movember are starting their annual festivities with thousands of patrons. Here at Nerds and Nomsense we’re planning a few awesome things of our own.
Oh, have we peeked your interest? Well then… let’s let the metaphorical cat out of the bag!
For starters, can we just take a moment mention how awesome we think you guys are! Every single one of you guys have inspired us to be better humans. Life on our little planet can be very taxing at times but if we all make time for the little kindnesses in everyday life we can help make the world a better place – which brings us to our first November event : THANKS.GIVE.[ING].
For the month of November we’re challenging all of our readers (as well as ourselves) to make the world/Multiverse a better place. Whether your goal is to do something good once a day, once a week, or once an hour – if you’re feeling overly ambitious – just try to do something awesome for another member of the human race. Thank them, compliment them, give a gift (no matter how big or small), and just be awesome to one another. Even if it’s just stopping a bully in an internet chat room or forum.
If you’d like to have an accountability partner, head on over to our Facebook page and give us a comment on our THANKS.GIVE.[ING] photo, then feel free to pair up with others who have commented. Once you partner up, go ahead and reply to each other’s original comment. Or if you’d rather buddy up with one of your friends that will work too!
Speaking of your friends, we’re challenging you guys to help us spread THANKS.GIVE.[ING] like wildfire! Share it on your wall, pin it to your boards, make like a chickadee and tweet it to your friends, or reblog it on Tumblr. Let’s not keep this to ourselves.
We’d love to hear your kindness stories at the end of the month. If you have some that you’d like to share, just shoot us an email (email@example.com) and we’ll include it in our end of the month THANKS.GIVE.[ING] post. Do you have an awesome (making the world a better place) charity or organization that you’d like us to know about? Let us know about them as well!
THANKS.GIVE.[ING] GUIDELINES: The golden rule of this challenge is to be kind. Whether it’s to say something kind to a stranger, compliment a coworker, or pay-it-forward in a fast food line – just be kind. There’s no specific requirement as to how many times the challenge ‘requires’ so no pressure.
Every single day this month we’ll be sharing an awesome fact with you guys. Think of it as a movement to increase your knowledge of random facts. Trust us, you’ll impress your friends with your Trivial Pursuit knowledge of awesomeness. Being a ‘nerd’ is never a bad thing and we nerds get a bad wrap most of the time. Stereotyping sucks. Let’s take back our word, Nerdship. Smart is sexy!
Follow us on Twitter or Facebook to keep up with your daily dose of knowledge. If you have a fact that you’d like to share, please feel free to do so on our Facebook page and we’ll be sure to credit you with it.
Doctor Who Week | November 18th-22nd, 2013
Do you have an inner Whovian just waiting to be released? Well this is the week for it! Much like our successful Firefly week back in September, we are dedicating a whole week to the mysterious Doctor and his beloved blue (specifically Pantone 2955C) police box featuring inspired cocktails, recipes, DIYS, and trivia!
We are still looking for a guest blogger for our Doctor Who Week! If you are interested in submitting a Doctor Who inspired blog post, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Why are we doing a whole week of Doctor Who this month? Well, this year is the 50th anniversary of the beloved Doctor and we kinda think the Doctor is awesome. If you are new to Doctor Who we’re giving you a few weeks heads up to get ready. Both Netflix and Amazon Prime (as well as Hulu Plus) have many if not all of the newest series of the doctor – Christopher Eccleston through Matt Smith – as well as several episodes of the original eight doctors.
We’re doing something extra special for Doctor Who week as well. The newest season kicks off that weekend and we’re planning on having a Doctor Who meet up to watch the 50th Anniversary Special “The Day of the Doctor” at 7:30pm on November 25th (Monday) at the Tinseltown Theaters in Oklahoma City, OK. Come hang out with us and get your Who on. Feel free to dress up as your favorite doctor as well. For more information – check out our event page on Facebook!
Are you participating in National Novel Writing Month? That’s awesome! One of our authors (DANIEL) is chronicling his NaNoWriMo adventures this month as well as helping keep everyone accountable and giving handy tips and tricks for all of you amazing Nerdship writers. To check out all of his NaNoWriMo posts as well as any other N&N posts about NaNoWriMo – CLICK HERE.
If you are participating in NaNoWriMo this month or would like to learn more information about this novel-writing challenge go visit the official NaNoWriMo website here.

No Shave November | Movember
November starts the annual, month-long beard & mustache growing pilgrimage known as “No Shave November” and / or “Movember” in order to spread awareness towards men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers. Showing your support for the fight against cancer by growing out your facial hair may seem a bit weird, but it’s the thought that counts.
If you’d like to donate, register, or learn more about this awesome month-long cancer awareness / support event check out Movember’s official website, HERE.
Let’s do this thing! Here’s to an awesome November, Nerdship!
Again, we’d like to thank you ALL for your continued support, patronage, and all around awesomeness to our little blog. You are the reason why we do this. Keep making the internet a more awesome place, everyone.
